PRIVATE SESSIONS

PRIVATE SESSIONS

Available virtually or in person

These sessions are designed to explore present challenges in thinking and behavior that prevent a person from growing and building healthy relationships. By looking back at generational patterns and functioning, participants discover new tools and skills that support emotional healing and authentic relationships. Some of the strategies may include worksheets, storytelling, and artwork to assist in identifying areas where it has been difficult to see the impact of negative influences.

Happy Family Portrait

FAMILY SESSIONS

Available virtually or in person

During these sessions family members will have an opportunity to engage in conversations with each other that speak to challenges in the family system.  Often patterns of thinking and functioning, which are learned during childhood, appear when families get together. With a skilled facilitator, these sessions create opportunities for gaining insights that allow family members to intentionally engage in healing processes that break these generational patterns and restore family relationships.

Pregnant Woman and Partner

COUPLES SESSIONS

Available virtually or in person

These sessions provide an opportunity for a facilitator to listen to each person and check in to make sure the message sent is the message received. Discussing differences in communication styles, priorities, expectations, conflict resolution, and childhood experiences are some of the components of these sessions. Couples may be involved in individual and or collective assignments as a means of exploring missing pieces that could support improved functioning in their relationship.

A Supportive Hug

GROUP SESSIONS

Available virtually or in person

People often think they are alone in their negative feelings and functioning. During groups, it is the responsibility of the facilitator to attend to each participant in a loving, caring, safe manner, where confidentiality and support are the key components. Groups help to normalize challenges and to build self confidence as participants encourage one another with constructive feedback rather than advice.

WEEKEND RETREATS

Available virtually or in person

Weekend, in-person retreats are arranged so that only those who are participating in the experience are present at the venue. We generally choose a get-away type of environment where participants, and up to three facilitators, stay in the same location so that the “community” spirit is present, and conversations can be held during the entire weekend. The price includes sessions, meals, materials, and accommodations. The number of participants may be limited to provide time for storytelling and processing.

Virtual retreats provide an additional venue for storytelling, building relationships, and emotional healing experiences.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Karen's Story

I worked with Joanne Palmer for seven years, first as a co-worker, then as a supervisee.  Part of Joanne's responsibilities as Clinical Director at our agency, was to be a counselor for the counselors, offering instruction, guidance and emotional support.  Over the years, Joanne became more than that.  She was viewed by many as a friend or a family member.  She became both to me.  When she left our agency's employ, I struggled to find a mentor who could be as effective a sounding board as she had been.  I valued her objectivity, her good judgment, and her ability to impart her sense of caring while being quite direct.  She challenged me to grow as a counselor and as a person.  After she left and pursued other avenues in which to utilize her talents, I found myself in need of a platform where I could process thoughts and feelings related to ongoing personal matters that had cropped up since her departure.  I attended an emotional healing retreat that she hosted in 2022, after which I became a member of a private small group that she facilitated, in order to continue to build upon principles and skills she had been teaching at the retreat.  I have found her to be knowledgeable and competent in this area and her counseling invaluable and vital to my growth.

Danah's Testimony

Some therapists concentrate on making you feel better by always saying nice things to you and affirming everything you say.  But I have found that when you need healing, true healing, it doesn't help to have someone placate you and tell you things just because you want to hear them, whether they are accurate or not.  Joanne is always kind and supportive, but she only tells the truth.  The real truth.  As you work with her, you begin to realize that she is genuine and can be trusted.  And she has a way of getting down to the real you.  So when she tells you you need to work on something, believe it.  But when she tells you something good about yourself that you never realized, you can really believe that, too, because she values authenticity.  If you're ready for real progress in your life, Joanne is the right person.

Nashonie's Story

Over a year ago I was crumbling under the weight of mental and emotional struggles I didn’t even know existed. I thought I needed a trauma specialist and God answered with His “Special Agent”, Joanne Palmer. It was really a miracle how we connected. I have grown exponentially over the past year. It has not been an easy road but I was never given the impression that work was not required. Joanne has given me the tools and support I needed to make the moves that were necessary to survive at my lowest, and then to move out of survival mode. Sure I still have struggles but I bounce back much quicker and I am better
able use the tools in my toolbox. Joanne has been a blessing in my life and I have no doubt she will bless
everyone that has the privilege of working with her. Under God’s direction, she exerted the perfect blend of compassion and challenge to move me from where I was, to where I need to be. She hasn’t just helped me deal with my current issues, she helps me deal with my past and prepares me for my future.
